Final Major Project – Entry #07: Equipment Modeling

I’m having a second thought on my 3D modeling. The model poly’s too low and could cause a problem when animating, mainly around the face. But what concern me most is that the characters costumes are too dull. The way I see it, the more objects around the character; the more it tells the character’s traits and story.

And so, in order to compensate that, I created more equipment for both characters and used the Autodesk Maya’s Smooth Tool to add more polys. Enough to make the model more flexible in animation.

NDC Soldier

The initial equipment for the NDC soldier are:

  • NDC military uniform (digital camouflage)
  • NDC military pants (digital camouflage)
  • NDC military boots
  • Kneepads
  • Knife holster
  • 6-inch tactical knife
  • Suppressed bolt-action sniper rifle

So I added:

  • Helmet
  • Military-grade bulletproof vest
  • Ammunition packs
  • Military backpack
  • Glove
  • Wedding ring

FF Soldier

The basic equipment for FF soldier are:

  • FF military uniform (urban camouflage)
  • FF military pants (urban camouflage)
  • FF military boots
  • Semi-automatic handgun
  • Family picture
  • Wedding ring

However, remembering that he will be under-equipped, he will only receive some of this equipment:

  • Military Load-Bearing vest
  • Strapped flashlight
  • Ammunition pouches
  • Inventory bag
  • Handgun holster
