Final Major Project – Entry #05: 3D Character Modeling_NDC

Modeling

The basic model of the NDC soldier has been done by this week. The model itself is a low-poly model. Although there is a consideration on converting it to a mid-poly, the decision will be made once the rigging shows its result. And as intended, the model itself does not resemble much of a realistic human, particularly at the facial part. To achieve efficiency and as a signature style of my modeling.

Model was made in Autodesk Maya 2017 and rendered with Arnold

Texturing

Textures for the model were acquired from free-to-download textures website. Then edited in Adobe Photoshop CC to fit the model’s UV mapping. The textures for the objects and costumes are aimed to be realistic with lots of dirt and scratches to make it more believable. As for the skin and the hair, I aimed to a more “creative” texture. Which is by digitally drawing them myself. To add a more cartoony look. As you can see from the images below:
